SunWant to come on a journey with me?

A journey inside one of the most radiant, abundant and vibrant cards in the Tarot deck?

C'mon – it'll be fun.

Are you ready? Let's dive into the Sun card together!

Let's start with a few deep breaths. Take a breath in, and hold it, and as you breathe out let go of any tensions that might be in your body. Now take another deep breath in, and hold it, and breathe out, feeling a gentle relaxation flowing down through your body now. It feels so good to relax and let go.

And as you are beginning to relax and let go, I want you to become aware of your body sitting on the chair beneath you. Feel the chair supporting your legs, your buttocks and your back. Feel your feet resting on the floor. Now imagine the energy of the earth beginning to rise up, through you, as if you are connecting with this energy in a profound way. As you breathe in, draw that earth energy up through your body. And as you breathe out, become aware of how grounded you feel and how connected you are to the earth's energy. One more deep breath in, again drawing up the earth's energy, and breathe out, feeling grounded and supported.

And now I want you to become aware of the top of your head. Picture in your mind's eye a large white flower sitting on the top of your head. This flower is beautiful and its many soft white petals open widely. Now take a deep breath in, and as you do, imagine you are drawing in a very pure white light through the open petals, into your head, and down through your body. And as you breathe out, just relax and let go. Take another deep breath in and again imagine a bright white light being drawn into your body, energising you and cleansing you. Breathe out, and relax in this beautiful energy. Keep taking in deep breaths and white light until you find yourself full of this white light and this pure energy.

Now imagine that you are so full of this white light and pure energy that you are beginning to radiate with this white light outside of your body. And you are surrounded by a beautiful white glow.

Feel this pure white energy within you now connect with the earth energy from beneath you, and as you do, you feel the powerful combination of being both grounded and open to your Higher Self.

As you take in this energy, imagine the Sun Tarot card right before your eyes. Picture the radiant sun filling the scene with warmth and energy. Picture the white horse, with the gleeful child riding on top. And imagine those gorgeous, yellow sunflowers reaching above the brick wall.

Take a deep breath in and smell the air around you- can you smell those beautiful sunflowers? Feel the warm, radiant sun on your skin. Listen for any sounds or noise in the background. Feel your feet firmly planted on the ground, the earth energy rising up through you.

Become aware of the large, radiant sun shining brightly above you. Draw in a deep breath and take in the Sun's energy. Feel the warmth radiating within your body, spreading through your arms, your chest, your head, down into your belly, your hips and legs and all the way down into your feet.

You are filled with the sun's warm and positive energy, feeling good, feeling confident.

You now become aware of a young boy sitting upon the white horse. Go closer to him as he reaches out his hand to you. Hold his hand and look into his eyes. What message does he have for you? What energy does he convey to you?

And now he invites you to sit on the horse with him. You get up easily and now your riding joyfully on the horse. You feel completely safe, knowing that you, the boy and the horse are in complete harmony with each other. You laugh and giggle with the boy taking in all of his beautiful energy. Now extend your arms out to the side, just as the boy is doing, and feel what it is like to experience such freedom and such joy as you take a ride on this gentle white horse.

The Sun with Brigit Esselmont

When you're ready, you jump off the horse with ease and just take a moment to be truly present in this scene.

The Sun gives you passion and purpose, confidence and enthusiasm. When you are filled with the sun's light, you know that life is good and you give thanks for the abundant life that you are living.

Your heart begins to relax and expand, opening you up to possibility and happiness. The Sun shows you how to be happy and have that inner smile within you, no matter what is happening around you.

And as you bathe in this beautiful energy, take a moment to reflect on all that you are thankful for in your life.

Your work here is almost done and you are about to leave this beautiful scene. But before you do, say to yourself now, in your mind's eye, “I live an abundant and radiant life.”

Now take a deep breath in, breathing in all the wonderful, positive energy the Sun card has to offer you, knowing that this energy is reaching right within you, to your heart center and your inner being.

Your work here is now done. Thank the Sun card and now step outside of the Tarot card. Watch as the card becomes smaller and smaller, returning to its normal size. It now looks just like a normal Tarot card, sitting in front of you.

And now you find yourself back where you were, before you entered the Tarot card, surrounded by a glow of bright, white light. Draw that white light within you now, imagining it in all parts of your body, energising you and cleansing you. Feel it in your legs, your stomach, your chest, your heart, your arms, and your head.

Bring your attention now to the white flower sitting on top of your head. Imagine those beautiful white petals beginning to close, petal by petal. And as the petals close, feel the energy becoming sealed shut within your body, nourishing your soul with this powerful white light.

As you sit here, know that you can return to this place of peace and insight at any time.

Now, slowly, gently, effortlessly you're returning to your full awareness once more. You can hear the sounds in the room, your body on the chair or wherever you are resting, and the temperature of the air.

And now you're completely aware, feeling calm, rested, invigorated, energized, full of energy. Take a good, deep breath, and stretch.

Take a moment now to reflect on your journey with the Sun Tarot card. In your journal or notebook, write your responses to the following questions…

  • In 3 words or less, what energy did you experience when meditating with this card?
  • What did you experience? Write as if you were telling a story of what you experienced in the meditation.
  • What can you learn from the Sun? How can you bring the Sun's energy into your life?
  • What are you truly grateful for?

And remember, you can come back to the warmth and radiance of the Sun at any time.
