Remember that Apple commercial, “there’s an app for that?” Well for us in the Tarot world, we genuinely believe “there’s a spread for that!” So, with 2017 coming to a close, I reached out to some of my favourite Tarot & Spiritual Entrepreneurs to share with you our Top 4 Tarot spreads to help you rock 2018.
Featuring spreads from Kelley Knight of Modern Mystic Tarot, Sarah Wilder of Fifth Element Life, and our favourite guest blogger + astrolgogy Tarot guru, Liz Worth.
1. ‘MODERN MYSTIC 2018 SPREAD’ BY KELLEY KNIGHT
From Kelley: “I created this spread because part of my tarot reading style is to build spreads intuitively instead of using conventional spreads. I find it very important when moving forward, to also have ample time for reflection. Lessons of the past always impact our world views and future actions. So, this spread offers a check in and reflection of 2017, while opening the energy for what lessons are to come in the upcoming year and some steps that will be needed to take as a bridge from 2017 to 2018.”
2017 Check-in Cards:
Card 1 – Mind
Card 2 – Body
Card 3 – Spirit
Card 4 – Lesson 1
Card 5 – Lesson 2
Card 6 – Lesson 3
2018 Planning Cards:
Card 7 – Theme card
Cards 8 – 10 – Lessons to be learned
Cards 11-14 – Steps to bridge 2017 to 2018
When to use it:
As this spread incorporates reflection and intuition for both 2017 & 2018, consider doing your reading towards the end of the year or around the Full Moon which (depending on where in the world you are) actually falls on January 1st, 2018.

2. THEME, FOCUS, AND GROWTH AT-A-GLANCE SPREAD’ BY LIZ WORTH
From Liz: “This is a three-card spread that looks at your theme for the year ahead, what it’s time to focus on, and who you are becoming throughout that process.
I created this spread to use at a big I was hired to do one time. I had about five minutes per person, so I decided to put together a spread inspired by some of the most common questions that come my way: What’s coming up for me this year, and what do I need to focus on?
Because this spread was first created for a party atmosphere, it was important for me to make sure that people would feel they got something useful from it, even if we were only talking for a few minutes. I found that this spread was able to offer something to reflect on, with some practical, tangible next-steps as takeaways.
Over time, it’s become a go-to spread for me in all kinds of situations. I find that it can be the beginning of a much deeper conversation, too, and can be especially helpful for those who are having trouble finding focus or taking control in their lives.”
Here is the Three-Card Spread:
Card 1 – Theme: The theme card looks at your major theme for the year-ahead, which can be a 12-month timeframe from the moment your reading begins. Of course, you can always adjust this to fit the situation. Consider the energies, patterns, and potential scenarios you’ll be moving through.
Card 2 – Focus: The focus card is exactly what it sounds like. Based on the message in the theme card, this one offers insight into what you need to as a next step, what you might be called to do as a result of your theme, or what it’s time to make a priority overall.
Card 3 – Growth: Look at this card as answering the question, “who are you in the process of becoming?” Whatever we are moving through changes us in some way, whether we are aware of it or not. This card ties in the messages from the theme and focus cards to show how these influences or opportunities will help you grow, or what role or mindset you might have to adopt along the way.
When to use it:
This is a versatile, adaptable spread that works well as a check-in when you aren’t sure where things are going, or what you need to do next.
It also offers a lot of purposeful insight, making it a great spread to use at the start of the year, or for your birthday. You could also use it at the start of a new chapter in your life, such a new job or other major transition.

4. ‘RELEASE AND LET-GO SPREAD’ BY YOURS TRULY
This first spread is one that I created during a particularly trying time in my life. And although I’m not anticipating 2018 will be tumultuous, the fact is that as humans, we feel and sometimes those feelings can be challenging.
The main idea with the Release and Let Go Tarot spread is to acknowledge, create space, focus and then release any overwhelming emotions. You can read more about it here.
Here is the seven-card Tarot spread:
Card 1 – What am I feeling right now
Card 2 – Why am I feeling it so strong
Card 3 – How can I release this feeling
Card 4 – What is the feeling transforming into
Card 5 – How can I rise above
Card 6 – What is my new beginning
Card 7 – What have I learned
When to use it:
This is one of those rare Tarot spreads that I recommend doing while you are feeling very emotional and the feelings are still very ‘raw’. It will help you to bring peace to your present state of being and take you out of that panicked state.
